Ars interviews Riff Trax talent: how crappy are new films?
It’s a time-honored tradition: watching bad movies and making fun of them. Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett are lucky enough to make a living at it, first with the now-classic Mystery Science Theater 3000, and now with the digitally distributed RiffTrax audio-only commentary files. It’s an interesting business model, selling the audio files instead of putting the film and mockery on television, but it affords the team certain privileges; they can make make fun of current films as well as the classics.
